Practice Interview Questions for NHD

Here are GREAT practice interview questions for NHD:

1. What is your thesis? [What are you ARGUING about your topic?]
2. What is the significance of this [picture, map, graph, chart, quote, etc.]?  Every piece of the project should explain how it serves as evidence for the thesis.
3. How does your project relate to the theme?
4. Why did you choose this topic? 
5. What are some other points of view on this topic?
6. What were some of the preconditions or causes of this event?
7. What other related events were occurring at this time?
8. What lasting significance does your topic have in history?
9. Which information sources were the most helpful?  Why?
10. What surprised you most in putting this project together?
11. What was the most challenging aspect of creating this project?
12. Tell me more about….
13. Is there anything you would like to share that we have not asked?
14. If you had another week to improve this project, what would you change?

Zion NHD Interview Times Scheduled

Dear Zion Middle School Parents,

Please find your child's scheduled appointment time [that was e-mailed to ALL Zion MS parents on Friday evening as a PDF attachment] for his/her NHD-SF interview on Saturday, March 7, 2015 which will be held at Zion Lutheran School.  Please e-mail me if you have not received it.  Your child should arrive 20-30 minutes prior to his/her scheduled appt. time.  I will be at outdoor ed. from Feb. 17-20, 2015 and wanted to get this out to parents ASAP to plan accordingly.  If there is a problem, please let me know so I can address it upon my return.  Please be aware that the list e-mailed is only the Zion list and I am also trying to juggle students from other schools in San Francisco as well because this is in fact a city/county competition.  Thank you for understanding.

Also, if parents are interested, we are still looking for a few more judges.  The more judges we have, the faster the competition will be able to run, so please let me know if you are interested in serving as a judge.  (Parents will not be able to judge a category that their child is competing in and will most likely end up judging students from another school.)
