As you return from summer break, we want to update you on some items for next year.
NHD Theme
The 2015-16 NHD theme is: Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History. The NHD Theme Sheet and Theme Book can be downloaded from our website at www.nhdca.org. More information will be added to this page as it becomes available.
NHD-CA Contest Update
At our NHD-CA County Coordinators meeting in May it was decided to make William Jessup University the NHD-CA State Contest home and not rotate north and south. Here are the details:

A sheet of Key Dates is available for the logistics regarding the State Competition for those who advance (however, please remember you must be endorsed by a County to compete at the State level); please ask your County Coordinator to make that available for those interested
There are a number of reasons for the decision [which have been made aware to coordinators and teachers and are available upon request*], but the main reason is:
- The partnership with WJU establishes a "home" for NHD-CA in order to:
- Stay fiscally responsible as we operate within budget
- Allocate resources (money and staff) towards statewide development & programming.
- Build experience and capacity with judges
- Grow NHD-CA to include more counties, schools, and students!
The university has agreed to host the competition and we are excited to continue this partnership. We look forward to working with all of you during the upcoming school year!
