The National Contest took place from June 10-14 at the University of Maryland, College Park. Thousands of students competed with documentaries, exhibits, papers, performances, and websites.
They also visited museums, historic sites, and programs specifically designed for National History Day students.

Free online webinar series!

In conjunction with the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission, National History Day (NHD) will be offering a special online webinar and discussion series in fall 2018 (September to December) for teachers to learn about the impact of World War I in a national and international context.

History matters!

While participating in our Normandy: Sacrifice for Freedom Albert H. Small Student & Teacher Institute, Vanessa Taylor uncovered the story of two twins who died in WWII. Only one was identified. But, because of her research, they were laid to rest side-by-side two weeks ago.
NEH nonfiction booklist for young readers
The National Endowment for the Humanities has assembled a list of high-quality children’s nonfiction that can keep students entertained, avoid the summer slide, and generate ideas for 2018-2019 National History Day projects. The list features classics and recent works in a range of genres, including history, biography and autobiography, and graphic novels.
